HIKES INTO THE YALE FOREST

Hikes to be offered into the Yale Forest. Mount Holly is home to 462 acres that are part of Yale’s Forestry program. The land was given to them in 1922 by the family of Joseph Bowen. He was a graduate of the Yale School of Forestry who was killed when shot down over France in World War one.

The hikes will be held from early October until early November. They are moderate walks along an early road. Learn about the history of the area and visit the plaque that was placed in memory of the young pilot who did not come home.

The hikes are finalized a day or two ahead of time when more is known about the weather. Please leave a message at 802-259-2460 or ddevereux@vermontel.net if interested. There will be several opportunities to join the hour and a half trek.

*A hike will be offered this Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Plan to meet at Flanders Corner about one half mile south of the Crowley Cheese Factory on Healdville Road.

Cheers to Cider Days 🍎

What a weekend!

There's something pretty special about Cider Days. The crisp fall air, everyone dressed in flannel, the smell of apples, familiar faces mixed with visitors discovering our little corner of Vermont for the first time — it's one of those weekends that reminds us just how lucky we are to call this place home.

We had such a wonderful time being part of the festivities this year. We chatted with old friends, met plenty of new ones, and watched a whole lot of people fall in love with the things our local makers create.

And after a busy weekend, we're back at the shop feeling grateful, a little tired, and very much still in the mood for all things Vermont. 🍁

So here's to Cider Days, small towns, local makers, apple everything, and another beautiful fall weekend in the books. Thank you to those who put on this fantastic event.

And another big thanks to everyone who stopped to say hello. We loved seeing you.

- Hallie

P.S. If you lost a pair of prescription sunglasses, I've got them! Email me hello@wallyscorner.com and I'll be happy to get these back to you.

Happy Maple Monday!

Looking for an easy dinner that tastes like you fussed? This week's recipe is Maple Glazed Pork Chops, and it's about to become a regular at your table.

Pure Vermont maple syrup does the heavy lifting here, turning into a sweet, sticky glaze that clings to every bite. The chops come out golden and juicy on the outside, finished with a glossy maple glaze. It's simple enough for a busy Monday night and special enough to serve to company.

Pair them with whatever is on your table this time of year. Roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a crisp fall salad all work beautifully, and you'll want a little extra glaze to spoon over the top.

Visit our website for recipes and shopping! While you're there, stock up on our pure Vermont maple syrup so your pantry is ready for the whole season. Made right here in Mount. Holly, it's the secret to this dish and to so many more we'll be sharing on upcoming Maple Mondays.

Know your farmer, know your food. Enjoy!
