Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com Hurray, summer officially arrives Wednesday and Pierce's Store will celebrate with a new format -- you will have the option of purchasing glasses of wine and antipasto in addition to sampling the wines.  As a special treat, Roxanne Ramah and Kristi Bragg will be performing duets on violin and cello.  Friday afternoon from 4pm to 6pm will be a perfect time to unwind and enjoy three flavorful whites and a sauve rosé, all hailing from Italy, where folks have mastered the art of kicking back.  You've heard of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, but how about Trebbiano di Lugana, Garganega, or Grillo?  Here's your chance to expand your taste horizons with some first class, yet less well-known varietals.  And guess what, because they are off the beaten path, the wines are also good values. We'll be sampling a Grillo from Sicily ($14.99), a full-bodied floral grape that historically has been fortified into Marsala and has now come into its own. Also included will be a silky Soave ($15.99) on sale for 20% off and a lovely Trebbiano di Lugana ($16.99) from a tiny region that may lose a quarter of its vineyards to a pending rail expansion.  We'll cap it off with a highly rated rosé ($16.99) from the same area as the Trebbiano, also on sale. The Mount Holly Community Historical Museum is scheduled to open on Saturdays and Sundays beginning on July 1 st through the end of August. The hours are 2 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 802-259-2460 or -2049.  The Will White Blacksmith Shop on Tarbellville Road contains the tool collection, farming equipment, early school items, the post office, and the Surrey that was used to bring people to the village from the railroad stations. Also on display are the creations made by a travelling druggist who was the last person to live in the building.  The Perkins House Museum on the Belmont Village Green holds the family items, elementary school student murals about the railroad history and our state's Terrestrial Fossil, the mammoth tusk, an Estey organ used across the street in the Methodist Church, the museum's albums, a Civil War display, and information about the Chase Toy Factory.  Both buildings date to the 1840s when the village was known as Mechanicsville. Mammoth related items are also offered for sale, and please check the website for special programs.
