Hello friends! Welcome to the weekend — we're ready, how 'bout you?! Ever wonder how Plew Farm began? It started small — a passion for growing and raising as much of our own food as possible, with a few vegetable and fruit gardens. Meat felt like the natural next step, and about 16 years ago we added a handful of chickens, both for eggs and meat. In 2011, an opportunity came along to lease farmland right here in town — enough space to expand and turn our little operation into a real farm business. With Kevin's retirement from his "real job" on the horizon for the end of 2015, we poured our time and energy into growing the farm so we'd be ready to farm full-time the moment that day arrived. That's when pigs, beef, turkey, maple, and hay all joined the mix. And when the opportunity came to purchase the farm — 150 acres, farmhouse and all — our dream of farming full-time finally came true. Our farm stand has been a hub of activity since 2016, and we're endlessly grateful for every person who walks through the door. Since we can't grow everything ourselves, we're proud to partner with over 20 fabulous local farmers to bring you the best local goodies around. Now — let's talk about this weekend! FRESH: chicken (last weekend for fresh!), bread (arriving Saturday), baked goods (so many sweet treats), and eggs (nothing beats farm-fresh). It's shaping up to be a great weekend for burgers, and we've got the best-tasting ground beef around. Grab a pound or two — you can thank us later. Farm stand hours this weekend: 12:00–5:00. We can't wait to see you, your family, and your friends! Follow along on social media for a daily glimpse into farm life. |
