Ice fishermen have confirmed rumors that they have been catching a growing number of fresh water alligators in Star Lake this year. The reptiles apparently have been breeding in the marshes along the shoreline and overwintering beneath the ice. Along with the regular fish catches the alligators have provided delicious variety to the fishers' meals. One fisher said she was especially fond of barbeque grilled alligator meat over the traditional New England recipe of smoked alligator. Swimming in the lake this summer will be open as normal since fresh water alligators are known to be vegetarians, mostly.
