Happy Fall!

Another season is upon us, and one of my favorite times of the year.

We had a productive week here at the farm.  The weather allowed more time in the hay field and as of mid week, we have baled so far this season, 10,246 square bales (and 530 round bales)... and when I say 'we', l mean Kevin!  While Kevin & Owen are working in the fields, I stay back at the farm for afternoon chores, and working the farm stand.

You'll notice a bit of fall decor in and around our farm stand, and for that, you can thank Jackson!  He loves holidays and decorations, so I couldn't be more proud of his desire 'to make things look good'!

We'll have the farm stand open all weekend and we are having a BEEF SALE!  Details are listed below!

Yes, we have finished our fresh chicken season, however, we do have frozen chickens available for you!  Stop on in and we'd be happy to help.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend.  We are open every day 12:00 - 6:00 and are located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly.

Please be cautious and drive accordingly when driving in and out of our driveway.  Be on the lookout for farm equipment, dogs, other customers, and  grandchildren!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FITTON-THE MILL, THE FIREBUG & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN

At one time Spring Mill, better known as Fitton Mill, was located by the Cavendish Gorge. One of the largest employers in town, the area became known as "Fittonsville," as boarding  house, tenements and even a school became part of the complex.

Operating for about 10 years, it came to an abrupt end when building after building was burnt down. However, these weren't the only buildings in Cavendish, or surrounding towns, subject to arson. Believed to be the work of Robert Fitton, better known as "Firebug Fitton," the number of properties subject to his matches were in the double digits.

On October 3 (Sunday), the Cavendish Historical Society will host a walking tour of the Mill site, starting at 2 pm. Beginning at the Museum, an overview will be provided, and will proceed to walk to the site, which is in the woods and on uneven terrain in parts. Dress accordingly.

This program is open to the public and free, though donations are appreciated.  For more information, call 802-226-7807 or e-mail margocaulfield@icloud.com
