This message is sent to you from the Green Mountain Neighbors, the group who we hope will eventually help us all remain in our homes as we become less able to do some of the things we've always taken for granted. You've not heard much from us recently, but behind the scenes we've been laying the groundwork for what we hope will be a helpful system for us all. This message includes a survey (below) of how you might be able to help your neighbors over the coming years. All ages are welcome – and needed. You might already have received this survey by email. Please only complete it once! ------------------------------------------------------------------- Helping Seniors as their needs change in Mount Holly, Shrewsbury, and Wallingford Interested in becoming a volunteer? We think you'll find it very rewarding! Some of the ways you can help: Provide a ride: Our volunteers provide rides for our members using their own cars. Members request transportation, in advance, to medical and dental appointments, physical therapy, as well as some of our planned social events. NOTE: All drivers need to provide proof of insurance and a driver's license. Run an errand: Some of our members may feel uncomfortable or be unable to do grocery shopping or pharmacy pick-ups. In that case, our volunteers can pick up & deliver orders previously arranged via Insta-Cart, or with prepayment for pharmacy items. Provide simple home maintenance tasks: Simple tasks such as changing light bulbs, hanging pictures, inserting/removing air conditioners, changing out seasonal outdoor furniture, are often insurmountable to some of our members. They so appreciate our volunteers who are willing to help them out with tasks that do not require major work. Check-in calls: Upon a member's request, daily or frequent wellness phone calls to assess a member's current condition. Contact us via email to let us know how you would like to help, but don't limit yourself to the areas listed above. We plan to start operations by the beginning of 2024.
