These are trying times and I urge you to continue to reach out with your questions and concerns via email or call and leave a voicemail.  My coffee hours and any in person meetings are suspended until further notice.  While I am low risk in terms of vulnerability, I am a high-risk of becoming an asymptomatic contagious carrier and can't stand the thought of finding out weeks down the road that I've put anyone else in danger.
Everyone should be familiar with the website for the VT Department of Health ( healthvermont.gov ) which is updated at least daily and has a great collection of resources, information and advisements.  There is a lot of false information out there which is not being done maliciously but because of the constantly evolving nature of this crisis, the information is constantly changing, so I would advise not to put too much concern into information found on Facebook that you can't confirm on the VT Health Department website or the CDC.  But please think of me as a resource if you have questions about information on there or things you have heard or seen that you can't confirm.  This is testing the systems and resources of our governments at all levels, but we have been able to come together in the effort to keep Vermonters safe and secure.  Legislatively there is still a lot going on at the state level as we adapt to working remotely by phone and email.  There are limits to what we can do because of our own rules, but we are doing what we can and will be able to address many of the biggest concerns.
Ultimately the best thing we can all do right now is to remain as isolated as possible.  This does not mean you can't leave the house.  But avoid public spaces and close physical contact as much as possible.  Luckily the weather is mostly cooperating right now and there have been some great days to walk in the woods.  If you are among those most vulnerable, most grocery stores are holding special shopping times just for you.  Call me and I can help refer you to resources to get groceries/supplies delivered.  There has been an issue with some people over-reacting (buying a year's supply of toilet paper) while some do not fully appreciate the threat this does pose.  It is important to keep in mind that for 4 out of 5 people this would not require hospitalization.  Like the seasonal flu it would just require lots of water and rest.  Everything we are doing is to limit the infection rate for the other 20% of Vermonters who are vulnerable, because they are older or otherwise immuno-compromised.  We are trying to keep the total number of cases at any one time down so that we don't have more people requiring ventilators than we have in the state or otherwise requiring more hospital beds than we have in the state.
Stay safe and stay strong.  Tough times never last, but Vermonters do.
