The Stand Up Shakespeare Company presents ONE FREEPERFORMANCE at the Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site in Plymouth, Vermont Saturday, September 5th, 2026, 12 Noon
Announcing: The 2026 annual "Shakespeare Alive! A Bard-Based Variety Show" returns for an all-new, FREE performance. A delightful mélange of Bard-based entertainment for all ages! The NYC-based STAND UP SHAKESPEARE troupe of professional actors and singers will share its talent, passion and creativity to amuse and amaze with the best of Shakespeare's canon as well as Bard-based skits and songs. And, lo, verily, the show is always FREE! (Although donations are gratefully accepted.)
WHO IS STAND UP SHAKESPEARE? Stand Up Shakespeare is a collective of professional performers from New York City who have become a veritable Vermont institution for over 26 years! Each Labor Day weekend, the beloved troupe travels to Killington and Plymouth to present a freshly minted one-hour show comprised of comedy, romance, tragedy and history, based on the works of William Shakespeare.
Where: Union Christian Church, 43 Messer Hill Road, located on the Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site, 3780 Route 100 A, Plymouth Notch, VT 05056. The special matinee performance will take place inside the beautifully preserved 183-year-old Union Christian Church (43 Messer Rd.), whose remarkable acoustics and historic Carpenter Gothic interior provide an ideal setting for Shakespeare's works.
Stay for the 21st Annual Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival, which begins at 2pm and runs until 5pm on Saturday, also Sunday during the same times. This event is also free, with donations appreciated.

About The Union Christian Church: Owned and preserved by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation since 1970, the Union Christian Church was originally constructed in 1840 as a town meeting house and formally dedicated as the "Congregational Church Society" in 1842. President Calvin Coolidge, born in 1872, sat in the pew owned by his grandfather until the 1890 renovation. Today, visitors can still see the pew associated with the Coolidge family, marked by an American flag and commemorative brass plaque. |
