Community Vision Survey Results

In 2021, the Town of Mount Holly applied for and received a Municipal Planning Grant from the State of Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development. The Select Board contracted with Community Roots, LLC, led by Melissa Levy, to help identify and understand community concerns related to housing, economic development, and public infrastructure.
A number of community members have volunteered to help guide the project and are chipping in to help keep costs down. Jeff Chase is the Municipal Authorizing Official for the Select Board. Jon McCann, the Chair of the Planning Commission, is helping with administration. Deeply engaged local citizens Andy Bolalek, Russ Garrow, Anna Hanson, Kevin Hollebeek, Lisa Kelley, David Martin, Jessica Metcalfe, and Faith Tempest have volunteered to share their expertise and help guide the project.
The first task was to engage the community to help steer the grant objectives. A survey was conducted from November 1–30, 2022, via an online survey and a hard copy print survey. The survey was announced in the November Chit Chat. Hardcopies were available for pickup and return at both the Town Office and the Town Library. The online survey was linked from the Town website and distributed on the Newsflash email list each week, and a QR code link was published in the Chit Chat. Individuals shared the link in various other local community forums and on Facebook.
The response from you, the community, has been overwhelming! We received 172 responses, which is nearly 20% of the adult population. For comparison, many surveys are lucky if they get a 10% response rate. This is clear evidence of how deeply we care about our community.

A limited number of printed copies will be available at the Town Office.
This is just the first step. Work on the planning grant continues. We have started to dig deeper into some of the suggestions offered and priorities identified in the survey responses. The next month or two will involve gathering more information with the intention of producing a second report with detailed recommendations for maximizing the benefit to the community from ARPA and other grant funding and addressing pressing community challenges.
Thank you for your participation! If you have questions, please contact: mounthollycommunitysurvey@gmail.com

2024 Cavendish Community Calendar Seeks Photos
Cavendish, Vt., February 23, 2023
For nearly twenty years the Cavendish Community and Conservation Association has
produced a community calendar featuring photographs taken by Cavendish residents of
Cavendish scenes. Planning for the 2024 calendar is now underway and the planners are
looking for local photos.
The theme for 2024 is "Cavendish Landscapes." Photos of mountains, woodlands,
gardens, meadows, rivers, buildings, and whatever landscape presents to you within
Cavendish will be considered for publication.
All photos will be displayed in the Cavendish Fletcher Community Library, and the
public will be invited to vote on their favorites in June. The purpose of the calendar is to
bring a greater appreciation and sense of pride about the town, which is the foundation of
conservation and good stewardship. Pictures can include people or animals.
Whether you are a full-time or a part-time resident, and even if you have never taken a
picture of a sight that you appreciate in Cavendish, this is your chance to capture what
you enjoy and then to share it with the community. Take a picture of that view and
submit it for the 2024 calendar. The usual submission is from ordinary people who find
beauty in ordinary places.
Application procedures and rules are available at the CCCA website:
www.cavendishccca.org . Please contact CCCA at
CavendishCommunityConservation@gmail.com or call Robin at 802-259-2327 if you
have questions.

Welcome to the Weekend!

Looks like winter again here at the farm.  Some snow on Thursday and blustery cold today.

It's a holiday week and we've been busy in the farm stand.  We'd love to see you if you're out and about.  Here's a bit of what we have inside.

The bread bakers are back, which means fresh baked bread for Saturday!  And wow, Mountain Robin continues to deliver the most delicious scones and treats (Saturday only)

Our side shelves contain just what you'll need to round out your meals and gatherings.  Vermont mustards, hummus, honey, seasonings, vinegar and tonics, hot sauces, handmade soaps, and salsa.

We have seasonal produce from our farm partners.  Carrots, beets, turnips, apples, potatoes, onions, garlic, squash, and a few micro greens!

Kombucha, salami, cheese, yogurt, milk, sour dough english muffins and cider can be found in our fridge!  And when  you get the english muffins (cause you know you want to), grab a jar of our maple cream.  You can thank me later!

Maple syrup shelves are at the ready - syrup, almonds, candy, cream and sugar.  Look no further, we've got you covered.

And in the freezers you'll find amazing gelato, ravioli and sauces, and take and bake pizza.

Our meat freezers have something for everyone.  We have a variety of pork and beef cuts.  May I suggest a ham steak for dinner?  Super easy and way beyond delicious!  Or a beef chuck roast would be good this weekend.  We've got the veggies to go along with that as well.

One stop shopping right here in the farm stand.  What more could you ask for?!  We look forward to seeing you.  We'll be open through the weekend from 12:00 - 5:00.
