Mount Holly School is fundraising for their music program getting new concert risers. We will be hosting a FREE concert on November 8th. The concert will be at 7 pm at Odd Fellows in Belmont, in Mount Holly. We will have three musicians performing along with free appetizers and desserts during the event. It will be BYOB and cash donations will be appreciated to help MHS reach their goal to getting new risers.

Hi Folks, Here we are just before Thanksgiving and with a snow shower for a taste of what is to come. I am getting ready for knee replacement surgery on the 21st. I wish not to have anything to worry about while getting that done. So the Chit Chat Deadline will be Tuesday November 18th, by 6:00 pm. I plan to have the paper to the post office on Thursday the 20th. Please have all articles, announcements, advertisements and any other item you wish to share with our community to me by then. The Well Tree is an original 'singing story' about wild journeying and remembering kinship -- the tale of a young woman moving beyond the fog of isolation and shame to meet songbirds, snails and ancient trees as she travels through these unraveling times, finding her way home. Heartwood sweeps audiences into a timeless experience, one that is rich with puppetry, banjo, guitar, fiddle, exquisite papercut imagery, and sweet harmony singing.

Theater in the Woods Vermont presents Ten Minute Plays fundraiser dinner theater at Stone Valley Arts November 7 & 8; November 14-16 Thetaer in the Woods' annual fundraiser at Stone Valley Arts in Poultney takes place Friday and Saturday, November 7 & 8, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 14-16. Eight plays written by community writers are read by actors over two weekends in a dinner theater setting. Soups, salads and sides are served from 5:30 to 6:45 at the evening performances, with the readings beginning at 7 pm. Tickets for the evenings are $30; the November 16 Sunday matinee with refreshments afterwards is $25 and begins at 2 pm. This year's event is part of an expanded project supported in part by a Vermont Community Foundation Arts and Social Cohesion grant. Titled From Ten Minutes to One-Acts: Community Engagement Through Theater, it commenced in September with an open invitation to write a 10-minute play, in person or by Zoom. From the 23 plays submitted, eight were chosen to be brought to life in the presented readings. The initial read-through of those plays was a public event at the Theater in the Woods barn in Tinmouth which 45 people attended. "This is a favorite event for us, and for the community," Administrative Director Melissa Chesnut-Tangerman says. "Theater brings people together, and over the years producing Ten Minute Plays at Stone Valley Arts we've seen how hungry — and satisfied — audiences are for involvement in the process of creation." In addition to the usual talk-backs which follow the readings, audiences will be invited to nominate their favorite plays. Two will be chosen to be further developed into one-act plays that will be directed by Meg Bouchard over the winter and produced by Theater in the Woods in the spring. "We really hope that there are community members who participate with us in the process of creation, from the initial reads to the presented readings in November, all the way through to the one-acts in the spring," says director Meg Bouchard. "We're avid to include people, to reinforce and iterate the idea that art is not precious; art is an expression of the creative force in all of us, and it can be made by all of us." The venue has limited seating; people are encouraged not to delay booking their tickets.
