Happy Friday!

Another Friday and the start of another weekend!  Is it just me, or do the weeks seem to be going by a bit too quick?!

A few farm stand highlights for the weekend ....

Fresh pastries and croissants arrive on Saturday.  The best way to start your weekend!
Our bread bakers are on vacation this weekend, so no fresh bread.  HOWEVER, we do have a supply of their amazing bread in our freezer.  We've got you covered folks!
Fresh chicken available through the weekend, and what a perfect weekend for a chicken dinner.  We've got potatoes, onions, and garlic which will go nicely with your meal!
Slow cooker weather calls for pork shoulder roasts (pulled pork anyone?!), chuck roasts (super easy and yummy) or ground beef for chili and such.

Our veggie farmers have been harvesting their products and we are so grateful to have tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, onions, greens, corn, garlic and more inside the farm stand.
Also on the shelves and in the freezers ...  gelato, maple syrup, cheese, ravioli and so much more.

Mark your calendars please ... our farm stand will be CLOSED on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th.
We look forward to seeing you this weekend.  We are open every day 12:00 - 6:00 and are located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly.

Please be cautious when driving in and out of our driveway and be on the lookout for farm equipment, dogs, and  grandchildren!

Don't forget we ship our award winning, wood fired pure Vermont maple syrup, maple almonds and maple cream!  No need to go without .  Visit our online store found on our website.

Jack & Dom's Apple Cider!

The grandsons have been busy making their very own apple cider!  They picked the apples, chopped the apples and then squeezed the apples.  Followed by bottling their cider, and making the labels.  They made 9 gallons from their first pressing, and sold every last drop!

More cider coming this weekend folks!  Stop on in and get a bottle!  Here's a couple of videos of the process!  Pressing the apples.  Introducing their product.

Community Health Walks to Raise Awareness About Suicide

Rutland Area "Out of the Darkness" Community Walk Sept.18th

Rutland -- "Suicide is a topic that is very difficult for individuals to speak about and increasing their comfort in being able to talk about it also increases the ability for us to provide services to individuals who might be struggling with suicidal thoughts," said Jason Keicher, LICSW at Community Health Rutland. "We are working toward achieving zero suicide in Vermont."

Awareness campaigns like the Rutland Area Out of the Darkness Walk to Prevent Suicide which takes place on Saturday, September 18th, educates the community and allows individuals to support one another and acknowledge that suicide is preventable.

"The walk in September raises awareness by saying this is still an issue in our community, an issue we are struggling with," Keicher said. "It invites the conversations among individuals because some people will ask why we are having this walk for suicide."

"If a person feels they are struggling with feelings of sadness, depression or feelings of suicidality the biggest thing is to reach out, speak to someone, know that they are not alone. There are resources available for these individuals," Keicher said.

As a Zero Suicide partner, Community Health collaborates with the Vermont Department of Health and the Suicide Prevention Center to raise the importance of recognizing symptoms of potential suicide and provide the skilled professionals and resources to address behavioral health illnesses like depression, anxiety and addiction recovery.
The walk begins at 9am at Main Street Park in Rutland. According to the Rutland Area Out of the Darkness walk website, "The health and safety of our participants, staff and volunteers will be our top priorities as we work with local authorities to make decisions about event details, and we'll continue to offer options to participate online and in your neighborhood."  Help promote the event through your social media networks, using the hashtags #OutoftheDarkness and #TogetherToFightSuicide.

Greetings Shrewsberries ...
We were greatly saddened in our final Shrewsbury Day planning to find 7 Covid cases in Shrewsbury between the dates of August 18th and the 25th.  It was time for us to make a decision on the fate of S.D.   We voted unanimously to postpone S.D. to September 17th, 2022.
Since we made this decision we have had favorable responses from event participants.  Shrewsbury Day is a kid centric event and with the 12 and under not being eligible for protection and a pediatric uptick in Vermont and across the country, we could not in good conscience complete our mission.
It was going to be grand this year, we had everything dialed and we were so excited to bring to you the best S.D. yet.  Sorry for the disappointment, but we will be back as a community stronger than ever in 2022
.

We will be selling our  Shrewsbury Day Tee Shirts at Vicki and Paul's Music Series.  Please consider buying a T Shirt  to help fund Shrewsbury Day 2022.
Kids shirts  $10.
Adults  $15.
Adult Long Sleeve  $20.

Thanks Vicki and Paul for your support and to the Community that supports us.
Respectfully,
Your Shrewsbury Day Committee
