We are excited to view a mother bear and her cubs scampering across the road but less enthused when meeting a huge one exiting our garage with a trail of upturned garbage cans and refuse behind it – or worse, finding your car windows bashed in from where a bear tried to access garbage bags inside that had been destined for the dump. All of the above occurred in this writer's neighborhood recently!
Tom Gieder, Wildlife Specialist with the USDA Wildlife Services, will lead a presentation and discussion about Vermont's black bears and what individuals and communities can do to better share your neighborhood with these curious and powerful animals. He will discuss bear biology, ecology, the factors that bring bears too close to our homes, and what we can do to prevent future conflicts with bears. Tom will be presenting on identifying bear attractants, securing attractants, and keeping bears wild. He will also discuss USDA Wildlife Services' new role in combating human wildlife conflicts and other services he provides to the public. Two Open Seats on the Ludlow Mount Holly School Board

The Ludlow-Mount Holly Unified Union School District (LMHUUSD) is seeking a Mount Holly Town Resident and a Ludlow Town Resident who are interested in filling current vacancies on the local school board. The successful applicants will serve until Town Meeting Election Day in March 2027. Board meetings are typically held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Board members may also be asked to participate on committees or take on other responsibilities as part of their service.

Application Deadline: All application materials must be received by 3:00 PM on April 3, 2026.

I recently saw the movie "SECRET MALL APARTMENT', which explores art and living a creative life, economics and gentrification,
community and healing. I was delighted to discover that the artist featured in the movie, Michael Townsend, will be in residence at
Brattleboro Museum of Art for a participatory art installation 'Tape Art Mega Corp', March 21st thru 29th. Seems they are encouraging
groups, families and individuals to visit and make art. I am really looking forward to participating in this event and want to spread the
word so anyone interested in this kind of thing can check it out. Leah Knoll

For nine days this March BMAC welcomes the bustling headquarters of TAPE ART MEGA CORP, a playful, participatory art experience led by the acclaimed artists behind Tape Art and Secret Mall Apartment. Visitors are invited to clock in for a shift, create their own tape necktie, and help decorate the company's new Brattleboro HQ from top to bottom using nothing but imagination and rolls of colorful tape.

Inside this tongue-in-cheek office world, you might find yourself building cubicles, designing tape trophies, or helping your boss finish a "critical order for drawings of cats before the close of Q1!" You can join the fun hands-on or simply observe from your workstation—there's a role for everyone in this workplace gone wonderfully off the rails.

Part immersive installation, part comedy, and all community artmaking, TAPE ART MEGA CORP invites visitors of all ages to play, create, and laugh together as they help build a world out of tape.

ABOUT TAPE ART

Tape Art is the creative duo of Michael Townsend and Leah Smith, who use rolls of tape and a spirit of experimentation to transform everyday walls into large-scale, temporary murals. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Tape Art has brought their distinctive brand of public art to communities across the United States and beyond—creating hundreds of murals and thousands of smaller works while sharing their medium in classrooms, hospitals, corporate boardrooms, and cultural spaces. Townsend, founder of Tape Art, is known for his inventive approach to making and his curiosity about how art lives in the world. (He once famously made a home inside a shopping mall.) Smith, a multidisciplinary artist and longtime collaborator, creates videos, installations, and sculpture projects when not pressing tape against walls.
