2025 Scholarship Winners Visit Ludlow Rotary Five of the seven winners of the 2025 Scholarships from the Ludlow Rotary Club (LRC) visited the recent meeting of the club to thank it for the awards. Annually, the LRC offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors who live in its area of coverage which includes Ludlow, Mt Holly, Cavendish, and Plymouth. To date, the LRC has granted over $284,000 in scholarship awards. Pictured above are, from left to right, Kevin Barnes, LRC Rotarian; Briana Barton - Windsor High School; Linsey Jane Miles - Green Mountain High School; Lola Saccardo - Compass High School; Andrei Solzhenitsyn - Green Mountain High School; and Evan Kirdzik - Green Mountain High School. Funding for these scholarships is largely obtained from the annual Penny Sale sponsored by the LRC in the Spring.

They're back! Last year they packed the hall with happy, dancing people. This year we make sure we do the sun dance and celebrate outside! The Mojo Birds (including Shrewsbury's own Silas Hamilton) are a funky flock based in Durango, CO - playing original dance-y roots funk music, with an Afro-Peruvian flair. Upright bass, keyboards, slide guitar and tight harmonies define the band's music. Their first album, recorded earlier this year at The Studio Nashville, is set to be released this summer.

Hi Folks, I am back and doing well. I had no idea how I would be after surgery and am very happy Heather Garrow contacted the Chit Chat Board members to help put out the June issue of the Chit Chat. Many thanks to Kevin Plew for compiling it, Heather Garrow for editing, labels, mailing paperwork, my husband Roger for retrieving it from the printers and especially Vicki Seward who gathered the boxes full of Chit Chats ready to be delivered, which she delivered to the post offices for us. It is time for the July issue of the Chit Chat be put together and my deadline is this Sunday June 22nd, by 6:00 pm. Fletcher Memorial Library Invites Area Youth to "Color Our World" This Summer LUDLOW, VT—Fletcher Memorial Library is thrilled to announce its 2025 Summer Reading Program, Color Our World, running from June 23rd to August 1st. Open to all area residents ages 0-18, the program offers a vibrant mix of reading, storytelling, hands-on creativity, and exciting events—all free of charge. This year, young artists can showcase their talents in the Mini-Masterpiece Art Show. Each participant will receive a 4x4 mini canvas, an easel, a set of 12 paints, brushes, and a palette—everything they need to create a unique work of art to be displayed in the library's August art exhibition. Throughout the summer, Fletcher Memorial Library will offer engaging programs for all ages, including: Weekly Programs: - Infant & Toddler Playgroup – Tuesdays, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Star Lake June Cleanups – Take two The second of three June cleanup activities at Star Lake is planned for Saturday morning, June 21, from 9am to 11am. Please join in at the beach recreation area. The June 14 session provided a small but meaningful start. This Saturday's session will involve significant weed removal in preparation for the installation of bottom barriers early in July. We will concentrate on two areas, from the beach to the usual raft location, and the Lake Street boat launch area. Please call Phil at 259-2694 if you have questions. REINBOW RIDING CENTER WELCOMES NEW LEADERSHIP & Thanks Long Serving Outgoing Officers Rutland County, VT: Reinbow Riding Center (RRC), a therapeutic horsemanship center based in Rutland County, begins their 17th season with a new leadership team. Elected as new co-presidents are Samantha Pearce and Rebecca "Becca" Rice. Jennifer Wigmore will also now serve as vice president of the RRC Board. They replace retiring board President Lynn McDermott and Vice-President Dorothy "Dardy" Pour, both of whom provided dedicated and valuable service to the organization. Lynn was a founding director of RRC and has served for many years at its president. She oversaw the organization's growth and move from its original Shrewsbury location to its present location in Belmont. Her tremendous leadership and stewardship of the organization throughout the years has continued to propel RRC forward. Lynn recently stepped down from the board but will continue to serve as Immediate Past President during the transition. Dardy has been an instrumental member of the board and is a retired Special Educator from the Rutland School System. She established and facilitated contacts with local school partners which resulted in an increase of referrals to RRC. Dardy was also heavily engaged in program design, lesson scheduling, and took a leading role in discussions about the organization's future. She also stepped up to serve as acting Program Director during the transition period and will continue to support the organization as a volunteer. Becca is an attorney who is now also the Shrewsbury Town Clerk. She is a longtime horsewoman and has served on the RRC board for seven year. Becca will now share the reins as the Reinbow Riding Center's new co-president. Sam currently works at The Collaborative, an organization focused on youth substance abuse prevention. She is also an avid horsewomen. Sam will also now serve as the organization's new co-president. Jen is currently the Vice Principal of Rutland High School. She has been on the RRC board for a number of years. She has stepped up to serve as Reinbow Riding Center's new vice president. The mission of Reinbow Riding Center is to improve the well-being of individuals with unique physical, emotional and/or cognitive challenges through a therapeutic equine experience.
