Dear VCRD Friends and Partners,

As you might have seen, in partnership with the Preservation Trust of Vermont and the Vermont Community Foundation, we are launching a new program – The Village Trust Initiative – to help towns set up or galvanize a local trust to take on projects that address a community need such as the revitalization of a general store, the creation of a community center, improvement of accessibility and use of underutilized town halls, the transition of large historic single-household dwellings into village-scale affordable housing, and more.

We're now hiring a director to help launch the initiative! The Village Trust Initiative Director must be a team player with excellent communication skills, an eagerness to learn, a strong sense of mission in service to Vermont communities, and a strong grasp of community engagement, facilitation, and project development strategies, particularly as applicable to small, rural communities. Please consider applying and share the opportunity widely!

Today's Forecast:A chance of snow showers between 10am and 5pm. Mostly cloudy. High near 34, with temperatures falling to around 27 in the afternoon. West wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

...Observed flooding changed to Moderate severity and increased in
duration for the following rivers in Vermont...
Otter Creek At Center Rutland affecting Rutland County.
...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is
forecast.
* WHERE...Otter Creek at Center Rutland.
* WHEN...Until late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Until the river stage falls below 9 feet, low lying
portions of several roads in Rutland County will remain flooded.
In Rutland, flooded roads will include Dorr Drive, Park Street and
Clement Road. High water will also approach Meadow Street and the
adjacent recreation fields will flood. Downstream in Proctor and
Pittsford, numerous roads will remain flooded, along with Route 73
west of Brandon. In Clarendon, low lying portions of South Creek
Rd. will remain flooded between Walker Mountain Rd. and
Wallingford, and water will approach Alfrecha Rd.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1:45 AM EST Tuesday the stage was 11.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 1:45 AM EST Tuesday was 11.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
late this evening and continue falling to 5.4 feet Thursday
evening.
- Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
9.7 feet on 12/26/2020.

Information:
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Ludlow Fire Department successfully raised $14,570 through a series of fundraising events. The funds were collected from the highly anticipated Fire & Ice Event, an online Silent Auction, and the Fire & Ice merchandise sale.
