On Saturday, October 10th, at 10:00 AM-4:00 PM the Historical Museum will open doors to welcome the public for the annual Cider Days Celebration. Both the Perkins House and the Blacksmith Shop will be available for visitations. There are excellent exhibits in both Museums depicting Mount Holly life in earlier days along with the well known Vermont State terrestrial fossil, the Woolly Mammoth, whose tusk and molar found in Mount Holly in 1848 are on display. NOTE: The Museum will also be open on Sunday, October 11, from noon to 4 PM. Outside the Perkins House there will be a variety of items for sale: long sleeve jerseys with SPF50 protection, some short sleeve shirts and for cooler days regular crew neck and hooded sweatshirts. We also have some newly designed coffee mugs with Mount Holly sights, a delightful remembrance of Cider Days, 2026. For younger children we have some furry Woolly Mammoths and challenging woolly mammoth puzzles. For those interested in Mount Holly history we have a few copies of HISTORY of MOUNT HOLLY by Carroll R. Tarbell. Mr. Tarbell was born in the town into an old well known Mount Holly Family. The book, published in 1987, is illustrated with black and white photographs and maps. A second history book, written by James F. Holden, MOUNT HOLLY: ITS EARLY DAYS (in its third printing) is also available. For an extra treat, be on the lookout for a table selling Christmas decorations. There promise to be some fine deals to put you in the Christmas decorations mood! |

Ludlow Rotary Club Presents $3,050 Duck Race Proceeds to Plymouth Fire & EMS
LUDLOW, VT — September 29, 2026 — The Ludlow Rotary Club was pleased to present $3,050 to Plymouth Fire & EMS during the club's luncheon today. The funds represent proceeds from the 27th Annual Ralph D. Hogancamp Memorial Duck Race, held in August 2026.
The check was presented to Plymouth Fire Chief Jim Allen and Town Clerk Angela Kissell, recognizing the successful partnership between the Ludlow Rotary Club and Plymouth Fire & EMS in making this year's event a tremendous success.
This year's Duck Race reached an exciting milestone, with the combined efforts of Rotary members and Plymouth Fire & EMS resulting in the sale of all 1,000 ducks—a record for the club.
The annual Ralph D. Hogancamp Memorial Duck Race has become a much-loved summer tradition, bringing the community together for an afternoon of fun while raising funds that benefit local organizations and services.
The Ludlow Rotary Club extends a sincere thank you to Plymouth Fire & EMS, everyone who purchased a duck, the volunteers who helped with the event, and the community for its continued support. Selling 1,000 ducks was truly a team effort, and the results demonstrate what can be accomplished when local organizations and community members work together.

Good morning from Mount Holly! Our maple syrup is boiled over a wood fire, a tradition that goes back seven generations in our family and all the way to Grandpa Hawkins. Every bottle carries a little of that history, and every Monday we love finding new ways to bring it to your table. This week, we're putting it to work in a dessert the whole family will fight over: Banana Maple Pudding. It starts with a smooth, creamy vanilla custard, sweetened with pure maple syrup instead of white sugar. Then we fold in ripe, sliced bananas and finish each glass with a sprinkle of graham cracker crumbs for a little crunch. The maple adds a warm, caramel-y depth that plain sugar just can't match, and it tastes like something your grandmother would have made, with a Vermont twist. A few tips: - Use ripe, spotty bananas. They're sweeter and give the best flavor. - Dark robust maple syrup brings the deepest maple taste. - Make it ahead. The pudding needs a couple of hours to chill and set, so it's perfect for the day before a family supper or a gathering. - Wait to add the graham cracker crumbs until just before serving so they stay crunchy. It's an easy dessert for a cool fall evening, and it's just as good served in little glasses for company as it is spooned straight from the bowl on a quiet night at home. Need syrup? Order our small-batch, wood-fired maple syrup online anytime at plewfarm.com and we'll get it on its way to your kitchen. We'd love to hear how yours turns out. Send us a photo or tag us, because there's nothing we like better than seeing our syrup on your table. |

By day 4 we have already identified 64 different species, Great Start! Mushrooms are popping up everywhere. Colored leaves on trees, shrubs, and small plants make terrific photos and provide important information about our common plant species. Pollinator insects are busy on the remaining flowers. Help us reach 100 species this week with your observations. Submit your finds to the Mount Holly Biodiversity Project New to iNaturalist? Learn more at Getting Started Need Help?
