| | | | | Recreation Ideas for Mount Holly Anyone with ideas for recreation opportunities in Mount Holly is invited to a brainstorming meeting this Tuesday, Oct 8 at 7 PM in the Historical Museum. Here is a list of ideas that have been suggested that may or may not be practical. What could be added to the list? - Safer and more pleasant walking trails. Some landowners welcome people to walk on their land but trails need better marking and publicizing.
- Trails for skiing, snowshoeing, biking
- Gravel side walks adjacent to some of our roads
- Bird walks and other guided naturalist walks
- Star Lake swimming with lifeguards and/or swim lessons
- Playground facilities at Star Lake
- Ice skating on Star Lake
- Adult basketball, soccer, softball and/or bocci games
- Evening use of MH School gym
- Existing recreation opportunities that just need to be publicized
The MH Conservation Commission is organizing the meeting with the support of the Select Board. Initially we hope to develop a list of recreation opportunities that we might want to explore. Then small groups might work together to determine if an idea is feasible and what will need to be done to make it real. Today, Saturday Oct 5th, you will find a Mount Holly Community Association Board member at the transfer station making our last push to sell all the squares. We can do it with your help! $10.00 a square with 3 chances to win. The grand plop gets you $100 plus a gift basket with items contributed by our Cider Day vendors. We are also raffling off 2 additional prizes that include $50 and a gift basket. Next, we still need volunteers to help at Cider Days. We have a number of 2 hour shifts at the merchandise gazebo, food tent, and the photo contest table (in the community room). Welcome to the Weekend It's Friday and the start to the weekend is looking to be a good one! The leaves are changing, and it is absolutely beautiful. Grab a few minutes this weekend and take a ride. The Vermont foliage does not disappoint. We have a very few turkeys available for Thanksgiving. Our turkeys are pasture raised right here on our farm. The weights of our turkeys generally average 18lbs. Price is $6.65/lb. A deposit is required to hold your reservation. If you're interested in having a fresh Plew Farm Thanksgiving turkey, please contact us to reserve yours.
The pullets, our young laying hens, are settling in quite nicely. And they've started laying eggs as well! Nothing like farm fresh eggs. The farm stand is ready for all your shopping adventures! Meat, maple, eggs, and so much more. Veggies this weekend will include: carrots, onions, garlic, squash, apples, greens, beets and tomatoes.
Grilling season may be winding down, but that just means our slow cookers are coming out! Soups (ham hocks, sausage, beef shanks); Roasts (beef round, pork shoulder); Ground Beef (chili, meatloaf, goulash). And don't forget breakfast! We've got the bacon, breakfast sausage, pancake mix, eggs, English muffins, and even butter! We look forward to seeing you at the farm stand. We are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 12:00 - 5:00. Located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.
Please be mindful of other customers, farm equipment and grandkids as you pull into our driveway. We've got plenty of parking in front of the farm stand. |
