Winter Weather Advisory issued January 24 at 3:05AM EST until January 25 at 7:00AM EST by NWS Burlington VT

* WHAT...Snow and freezing rain expected. Additional snow

accumulations of up to two inches for a storm total of 2 to 4

inches and ice accumulations of one to two tenths of an inch.

* WHERE...The northern Adirondacks, northern Champlain Valley, and

eastern Vermont.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Isolated power

outages are possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the

morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ongoing snow will lead to a slippery

commute this morning. After a brief lull midday, precipitation

returns as freezing rain Wednesday evening and continues into

early Thursday morning before tapering off by midday.

The Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce selected six grocery stores as the January 2024 Members of the Month to honor their commitment and the work that they do to serve the region.

* WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Snow could impact the Wednesday morning commute.

Freezing rain will lead to locally hazardous travel overnight

Wednesday into early Thursday, especially across the St Lawrence

valley and eastern Vermont. Isolated power outages also cannot

be ruled out.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be two rounds of winter

precipitation. An area of snow will move in this evening into

the overnight hours, leading to a slippery Wednesday morning

commute. Then there will be a lull in precipitation during the

day on Wednesday. An area of freezing rain moves in Wednesday

evening into the overnight hours, potentially persisting into

Thursday morning for the northern Saint Lawrence Valley and

northeast Vermont. The immediate Champlain valley might see

mostly rain.

Author Discusses New Book, "War Tears"

John Swanson, author of the recently published novel, "War Tears", recently appeared on the 'Spotlight" TV program on Okemo Valley TV. Swanson, interviewed by Ralph Pace, described the lengthy research he conducted into Vermont's participation in the Civil War at Gettysburg. While his book is a historical fiction, many of the characters in it are drawn from actual historic Vermont figures who played a role in that conflict. John was particularly interested in one, a young lawyer in Springfield, who became an important Civil War commander, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his role as a military leader. "War Tears" is currently available as an eBook, paperback, and hardcover book on Kindle. Pictured above are, from left to right, Ralph Pace and John Swanson.
