Prior to COVID, the items that were available for sale from our farm stand were products that we raised, grew, or produced ourselves.  We sold chicken, eggs, maple syrup and maple products, beef, pork and turkey.  And sometimes a homemade apple pie or two! And then, a little over a year ago, the farmers markets were closed down due to COVID.  On top of that, the food supply at the local grocery store was limited at best. We immediately changed our farm stand hours of operation and remained open 7 days a week.  About a week into 'pandemic shopping', we realized the desire for more product offerings at our farm stand.  And alot of our farmer friends were in the same boat, so with all of us working on getting our 'shops' in order, we were able to add extra product to our shelves. And here we are one year later with 23 farm partners who grow, raise, produce, and create the most amazing products ever!  From apples to zucchini, we are so happy to have a variety of products to offer YOU! I will be highlighting all 23 farm partners on our social media pages, beginning next week.  We are ever so grateful to be interacting with these folks and we want to introduce them all to you.  We are proud to be able to supply a variety of locally produced products!  Be sure to follow us on instagram and facebook to stay informed!     VISIT OUR FARM STAND and OUR WEBSITE! Mount Holly Newsflash - Thursday, April 1, 2021 - Morning edition The weather today in Mount Holly - Rain and snow. Cloudy. High near 35, with temperatures falling to around 28 in the afternoon. Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com APRIL 1 News:   Ice fishermen have confirmed rumors that they have been catching a growing number of fresh water alligators in Star Lake this year.  The reptiles apparently have been breeding in the marshes along the shoreline and overwintering beneath the ice.  Along with the regular fish catches the alligators have provided delicious variety to the fishers' meals.  One fisher said she was especially fond of barbeque grilled alligator meat over the traditional New England recipe of smoked alligator.  Swimming in the lake this summer will be open as normal since fresh water alligators are known to be vegetarians, mostly.           Unofficial April Fools' Day News

Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com Vermont Home Gardener   Mud Season Gardening   The deep snow has been replaced by slippery mud, a sure sign that spring is here!  Suns shines a bit brighter and longer every day now, making our gardens irresistible on warmer days.  But beware, don't be tempted to get too ambitious just yet, but there several jobs that can be done before digging any soil.  Hidden deep in all that messy leaf litter in your gardens are many overwintering beneficial creatures that need a little more time before they awaken and get to work.  Let them have this time and wait until we pass the freezing nights before clearing up those beds.  It's best that wet soil should not be disturbed just yet.  Let the water drain and dry out for another week or two before digging anywhere.  Even walking across a squishy lawn now is hard on the soil and roots.  Still, there are plenty of mud season jobs that can be done now so let's get started!   Read the full article and subscribe for Free at VermontHomeGardener.com
