Happy Maple Monday! There's something about the smell of bacon and melting cheese that stops everyone in the kitchen mid-stride — and this week's recipe leans right into that. We're talking a Maple Bacon Grilled Cheese: sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, and a generous drizzle of our pure Vermont maple syrup, all pressed between two buttery slices of sourdough until golden and gooey. It's the kind of sandwich that turns a quick lunch into something worth slowing down for — sweet, salty, crunchy, melty, all in one bite. And with just a handful of ingredients and 15 minutes, it's an easy one to keep in your back pocket for busy weeknights or lazy weekend mornings. Our syrup comes straight from the sugarbush here on the farm, wood-fired the same way Grandpa Hawkins did it generations ago. That little bit of extra care is what gives it the deep, rich flavor that makes a simple grilled cheese feel a little special. Get the full recipe on our website, and grab a bottle of our maple syrup at the farm stand or online to make it happen in your kitchen this week! |

Greetings, Nothing ventured nothing gained 🤔... On Wednesday, August 19th, at 2:53 p.m. we had received a phone call on our Thrive Center voicemail system, from someone who we believe had the name Heidi with the last name beginning with an S. They were looking for assistance with their neck pain and TMJ in their jaw. Unfortunately, the call was hard to make out and also dropped without a phone number being given. Further, this message was checked from afar, so we could not do a *69. We have been very diligent in trying to trace this call through V-Tel and are so far still coming up empty-handed. It was our hope that this individual would have called us back by now. Darn the luck. If this is you reading this, or if it's someone that you know who had called our office... Please try again / or pass along this post; as we would very much like to offer you / that person assistance and / or direct you for your future needs. Thank you so very much for reading. We take a lot of pride in our efforts / follow through. Yours in Health, Lisa M. ANNUAL PHINEAS GAGE WALK & TALK
Whether you have or haven't heard of Phineas Gage, the Cavendish Historical Society's (CHS) Annual walk and talk is a great way to learn more about him. Gage was a railroad foreman who, on Sept. 13, 1848, had a tamping rod pass through his head as a result of a blasting accident, Thanks to Cavendish physician Dr. John Harlow, his story ushered in a new era in brain science.
Each year, on the Sunday closest to the anniversary of the accident, CHS hosts the Gage Walk and Talk. This year's this event coincides with the exact date of the accident which occurred 178 years ago.
The talk begins at the CHS Museum, 1958 Main Street in Cavendish, at 2 p.m on Sunday Sept. 13. The walk follows and includes the location of the accident, Dr. Harlow's home/surgery, and the boarding house where Gage stayed. We even have an exact replica of Gage's skull.
The site of the accident is approximately three-quarters of a mile from the museum. Participants can stop at any time. It is recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes.
This program is free and open to the public. The talk takes place regardless of weather conditions. For more information, please call 802-226-7807 or email margocaulfield@icloud.com. |
