It's Friday, and it's 20 degrees cooler this morning than it has been all week. And that makes us happy here at the farm! Fresh chicken season is here and we've got them in the farm stand just waiting for you. Fresh, not frozen, and simply the best tasting chicken around. The grandkids have had a busy start to their summer, thanks to all of you! Jackson & Dominic continually sell out weekly of their hand-packed bags of mulch hay. Don't worry, we are stocked and ready for the weekend. All 3 grandkids make, market, and sell their hand-squeezed lemonade in the farm stand on Thursdays and Fridays. And again, they sell out every single week! Thank you! In the farm stand this weekend we will have a variety of goods! Salad greens, cucumbers, zucchini, garlic, onions, carrots, beets, fresh bread, and baked goods. Let's not forget we have a selection of jams, mustards, honey, yogurt, cheese, pizzas and ice cream! We had alot of ice cream pass through the farm stand doors this past week. We may have had an ice cream bar or two ourselves! Beef and pork await your dinner plans. Steaks, ground, sausage, ribs, and roast. Stop on by and let's see what we can help you with for dinner. We'd love to have you stop by and visit our farm stand. We are located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly. Hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 12:00-6:00. Bring a friend - don't shop alone! With the summer season upon us, please be mindful of hay equipment, customer traffic, and grandkids as you drive in and out of the driveway.

ROD MACDONALD at the Shrewsbury Meeting House
Rod is a gifted singer-songwriter, creating songs of social commentary and humanity's shared experiences. The good kind of tunes that get stuck in your head. A key player in NYC's folk revival, Rod performed at Greenwich Village hotspots like the Speakeasy and The Bottom Line, and co-founded the Greenwich Village Folk Festival. His songs have been covered by many artists, and he's appeared on stage with a myriad of performers on a list that reads like the Who's Who of American folk music. In addition to being a prolific song spinner, and with a background in the Army, law school, as a journalist, educator and novelist, Rod sees the world through many lenses, and his sweet tenor voice, harmonica and guitar help to tell the stories.

Saturday July 26th is the 15th Annual Cavendish Town Wide Tag Sale from 9-2. Lots of interesting vendors this year. On the Cavendish Green there will be several vendors with very large sales, including one couple coming with a trailer of stuff from New York. Across the way, the Cavendish Fire Department will be offering pulled pork sandwiches with all the trimmings.
In Proctorsville, the Proctorsville Fire Department will be holding their annual BBQ on the Green. New this year, the Department's child car seat inspector will be on hand to do free safety checks, and the junior Fire Fighters will be hosting a tag sale.
The Cavendish Historical Society (CHS), Cavendish Connects and the Black River Valley Resources (BRVR) will be set up by the Proctorsville Gazebo. CHS will have a variety of their books and T shirts for sale, in addition to free copies of their Cemetery Guide. BRVR will be offering free "Go Kits" to those living in Cavendish, Ludlow, Mt. Holly and Plymouth. These kits are designed to be grabbed as you head out the door in emergent situations.

The 18th Annual Mount Holly Garden Tour will be held on Saturday July 19th, 9:30am-4pm, with a rain date of July 20th. A self-guided tour of diverse gardens, it features sustainable organic fruit and vegetable practices, as well as lush sanctuaries with fragrant flowers, ponds and stone walls. Picnicking is welcome at Star Lake. Tickets can be purchased on the day of the tour at the Mount Holly Library, 26 Maple Hill Rd, Belmont, for $15 per person (12 and under free) and include entry into our garden themed gift raffle.
