Join us at the the Library on Monday August 2nd at 4 PM for a family program from noted Vermont storyteller Michael Caduto Tales from the Deep: Native Legends of the Living Waters Master storyteller and award-winning author Michael Caduto will perform Native myths and legends at the (location) on (date) from (time). In this celebration of oceans and freshwater life, Michael immerses his audience in traditional stories, songs and chants and invites audience members to sing along with guitar and drum. Come hear such stories as Tortoise & the Egrets (Tibet), Origin of the Ocean (Guajiro-Colombia), Azeban & the Crayfish (Abenaki), Koluscap and the Water Monster (Anishinabe) and how Gluscabi and his Grandmother make a great journey to an island in the Sea! See you July 14th for Jenny Porter!  Candidates for U.S. Congress in Ludlow Forum Thursday, July 21   Five candidates seeking their party's nomination for the Vermont seat in the United States House of Representatives will participate in a candidates' forum in the Ludlow Town Hall's Heald Auditorium on Thursday, July 21 at 7 PM.   Candidates will be asked questions by the forum's moderator dealing with regional, state, and national issues.  Following these questions, the audience will have an opportunity to ask the panel questions.   The candidates seeking the Democratic Party's nomination for the Congress include Becca Balint, Molly Gray, Sianay Chase Clifford, and Dr. Louis Meyers.  The candidate seeking the Republican Party's nomination who will be participating in the forum is Liam Madden.  Two other Republican candidates, Anya Tynio and Ericka Lynn Redic , have been invited to participate but either have yet to confirm their appearance or have withdrawn.   Sponsored by FOLA (Friends of the Ludlow Auditorium), the event will be moderated by Jim Alic, FOLA Chairman.  Jacalyn Diesenhouse will serve as the timer for this event.  George Thomson and Kevin Kuntz will act as audience monitors for audience questions to the panel.  Okemo Valley TV will record the forum for subsequent airing over its local channels and distribution to other state public tv channels.   The forum is open to everyone.  For questions and information, contact info@fola.us or 802-855-8883. Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com July 1, 2022 CONTACT: Jill Jesso-White jjwhite@chcrr.org (802) 855-5393 Community Health Kids Share Vaccine Reactions in Award Winning Video Rutland – When kids Covid-19 vaccines became available, Community Health Director of  Communications and Development Jill Jesso-White decided to document the brave, excited, adorable children who came for their first shots.   "We wanted to make this an experience that made them feel special and powerful, and let them know that we appreciate their reactions and their thoughts after having experienced the pandemic at their young ages. So, we decided to hear directly from them," she said.   The Vermont Association of Broadcasters awarded videographer Andrew Wilson "Outstanding TV PSA Produced by a Production Company" for his staging, production and creation of a 30-second public service announcement for Community Health. "I'm really proud of this PSA we produced with Community Health. Working unscripted with kids as young as six was entertaining and, at times, heartbreaking," Wilson said. "It was obvious how much they understood how serious the pandemic has been and how much it has affected them. They were genuinely eager to tell their stories about why they wanted to get vaccinated."   This is the third year Wilson and his video production company, WestView Digital Video & Design, have been recognized for a "Production of the Year" by the Vermont Association of Broadcasters.   Click here to see the full video or watch on Community Health's website https://www.chcrr.org/ or on our YouTube channel. When Community Health Pediatrics began offering the vaccines to children ages 5-18, they created a welcoming safe superhero decorated space for the children so they weren't intimidated by the thought of getting a vaccine. "We have administered Covid vaccines to 1,072 distinct patients between the ages of 5 and 18 years," said Tracy Upton, RN, Director of Community Health Clinical Services.   This week, Community Health Pediatrics started offering Covid vaccines for children ages six months to four years.   Wilson said his favorite kid vaccine comment was, "Getting the shot hurt less than getting poked with a sharp stick.  It was kinda like getting poked with a blunt stick.  Even less."   For more information about vaccines for kids, contact Community Health Pediatrics at 802-773-9131.
