Reinbow Riding Center Hosts Annual Volunteer Training
Rutland County, VT: Reinbow Riding Center is gearing up for our upcoming 2026 season with our annual Volunteer Orientation Clinic on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10:00 am. This clinic will be held at our outdoor riding facility located at Stone Wall Farm, 892 Tarbellville Road, in Belmont, VT. Refreshments will be provided.
Please join us for this event and be introduced to the wonderful world of therapeutic horsemanship. This is a great opportunity to learn about what we do to improve the wellbeing of individuals with unique physical, emotional and/or cognitive challenges through a customized therapeutic equine experience. Our program gives individuals from ages 3 to senior citizens with challenges a chance to experience the generosity of horses allowing them to gain confidence, improve their physical abilities and develop a sense of independence.
This is the first community event we do each year inviting anyone interested in volunteering to join us. There will be a question-and-answer session as we show you what Reinbow Riding Center is all about, what we do, and why it requires many helpful hands and wonderful horses. Volunteers are a very important part of Reinbow Riding and the rewards are immeasurable. If you like working with children and/or horses, and are looking for something interesting, different and meaningful to do with a little of your spare time, consider joining us.
NO HORSE EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Learn as you go or help us in many other capacities. We always need people that might like to help with other aspects of our program (photography, videotaping, writing, handy work, grounds work, events, public relations, and general office help). You must be at least 14 years of age to work with the horses. High School, College Students and others can also participate to get credit for community service requirements. This year our seasonal riding program runs from May 18th to October 23rd. There will be three 7-week sessions (Spring, Summer, Fall) and lessons are Mondays to Fridays. We work with your schedule. During the winter season, we plan for next year’s program. We can’t wait to open for the season and get our program started in May and hope you will join us!

A reminder of what you can do this week.
Weekly To Do List (4/24- 5/1)
- Plant tomato, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, eggplant seeds indoors.
- Sow early greens (kale, spinach, mesclun, arugula, beets, etc.), peas, onion sets outdoors.
- Cover empty garden beds with black, woven ground cover to warm the soil.
- Feed indoor seedlings and houseplants with liquid fertilizer.
- Do not remove old leaves from garden beds yet. Native pollinators & beneficial insects are still maturing there.
If you missed these last week...
- Apply compost to raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, & perennial shrubs.
- Apply lime to lawns if your soil test indicated acidic conditions (pH below 6.0). Do not apply fertilizer to lawns in the spring.
- Do not apply mulch yet, let the soil warm first.
