It's a busy time of the year for farmers! Haying season is in full swing, making for long days in the hayfield! Chores include moving our cattle every day to fresh pasture. We've got 3 batches of meat birds in chicken tractors, with 1 batch still in their brooder. The laying hens will be getting a new house soon. They are just as excited as we are! New pullets will be joining our flock next month! We had our 2,000th farm stand customer for 2025 last weekend! We can't thank you enough for choosing to shop local and supporting, not only our farm, but our farm partners as well. FRESH chicken season is here. We will have fresh chicken in the farm stand through the weekend. Have you tried one yet? What are you waiting for? Simply the best chicken you'll ever have. Fresh bread arrives on Saturday, and sells out very quickly. You know the drill .. get here earlier rather than later if you're looking to score some bread! Ground beef and pre-made patties are the hot sellers this week. Keep those grills going! And while you're grilling, try one of our ham steaks! Super good. FOLA Plans More Events This Fall and Winter FOLA Chairman, Jim Alic, and Program Director, Scott Stearns, have announced a series of planned events for the coming Fall and Winter that will offer a wide variety of entertainment to area audiences. On Sunday, November 2, at 2 PM, they indicated that a string trio from the Vermont Symphony will appear in Heald Auditorium in Ludlow's Town Hall. This Sunday matinee will feature classical music played by a trio of classical musicians that promises to feature chamber pieces as well as generally well-known classical works. This will be the first Sunday matinee offered by FOLA since 2009. Stearns indicated that additional events are now in the scheduling phase that are pending dates during this period. They will include a musical evening planned by FOLA that will include "danceable" music. A new Christmas program will also be presented during the holiday period. Dates on these offerings are pending but will be announced soon. FOLA is also planning a special program for the younger set. Information on this program will be released sometime this Fall.
