| | | | | Grafton Village Cheese Announces Grand Opening of its Okemo Valley
Retail Store
New store offers pre-packaged and cut-to-order handcrafted cheeses, other gourmet foods, and gifts.
Grafton Village Cheese invites the public to help celebrate the Grand Opening of their new Okemo Valley Retail Store over the Memorial Day Weekend. A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with the Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce will kick off the event Friday May 24th at 12 noon. The celebration will continue Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 6pm, wrapping up Monday at 12 noon. Each day will include cheese and gourmet food samples, live entertainment, daily raffles and kids' activities.
The new store is conveniently located at 2568 VT Route 103 in Proctorsville, just east of downtown Ludlow. "We are thrilled to have joined the Okemo Valley community and are excited to welcome locals and visitors into our beautiful new space", says Sherry DiBernardo, the Company's Retail Manager. In addition to Grafton's line of aged and infused cheddars, and cave-aged specialty cheeses, the Okemo Valley Retail Store offers a carefully curated selection of other cheeses from Vermont and around the world. Visitors will also find a wide selection of wine, beer, gourmet food products and handcrafted gifts.

Ludlow: Over the past few years, a dedicated group of community members have rallied together to utilize the space known as the 'Back 40' (the lot behind the school and high school baseball field) as municipal sports trails. Through the Town, a mountain biking terrain was developed in the Spring of 2023. However, a formal opening was delayed that summer due to the damage from the July flooding. The trails survived, although some maintenance was required. Thanks to this dedicated group of community members, there is a local chapter of VMBA (Vermont Mountain Biking Association) which was formed to oversee the new Ludlow trails well-being. Known as Ludlow Area Sports Trails, or LAST, this group has already been hard at work assessing and prepping next steps so that the trails will finally be ready for public use.
VMBA is well-known for their impressive volunteer gatherings, and now LAST will host its own Volunteer Days to finish cleaning up the Back 40 trails. With an official Grand Opening and Member Meet/BBQ set for June 15th, the Volunteer Clean Up Days will be Sunday, May 19th from 8:30am-12pm and again on Sunday, June 2nd from 8:30am-12pm. Tasks will include raking, lopping roots, moving branches, and some other usual spring clean ups. Any interested community member volunteers are encouraged to attend.
The Mountain Biking Trail has been a few years in the making, a tremendous shout out to the community members and LAST for their hard work in seeing this to fruition! The trails will be a tremendous asset to the community. Mountain Biking is a popular draw in Vermont and helps towns find a way to thrive year-round when ski resorts are closed. Ludlow is honored to finally host its own public trail and provide an exciting resource for the community, with the plan to expand trails in the coming years and offer more variety for different skill levels. Do I need to be present to claim my auction items?
Nope!
Anyone anywhere can participate in the auction. We just ask that you
have a plan for how you will pick up your items. If you are not at the
event, you can make arrangements to pick up your winnings at The Little
School.
Do I need cash?
While
The Little School is able to accept Venmo or checks for tickets,
donations, and bids, the bar is a cash bar and might not be able to
accept alternate forms of payment. It's best to bring some cash just in
case.

We are one department of many across the state that are looking for new members in hopes of growing our team. Come talk to members and check out trucks to see what it is all about. We have just started a first response team that is getting ready to kick off and are looking for members to join and serve that area as well.
