Vermont filmmaker Nora Jacobson will be screening her documentary 'Ruth Stone's Vast Library of the Female Mind' at the Shrewsbury Library in Cuttingsville on August 5th at 7pm. The film chronicles the poetry and life of Ruth Stone, a former Vermont Poet Laureate who formed much of her art from her hilltop home in Goshen, Vermont. Former Vermont Poet Laureate Chard deNiord will join Nora Jacobson for Q&A at the end of the film. Admission is free, but space is limited, and reservations are required. Politics is No Stranger at Coolidge Homestead
Attending the annual reenactment of the moment in history when Calvin Coolidge, then Vice President of the United States, took the oath of office as President , the four people pictured are no strangers to the world of politics. But today, after they viewed the historic swearing in of Coolidge as a result of Warren Harding's death, they were just regular people as they enjoyed Coolidge's favorite drink, a Moxie, at the country store in Plymouth. Pictured with their Moxies are, from left to right, Alison Johansson, Tesha Buss, Richard McCormack, and Alison Clarkson. All are seeking election to various state offices but, at this moment, are more concerned with honoring the memory of President Coolidge. They also seem to be doing a good job promoting Moxie as well.

Hello there and welcome to your weekly Plew Farm newsletter. Do you know we've been sending our newsletter every Friday since January of 2011?!?! Thank you for reading along and also for forwarding to your family and friends. The farm chores continue with haying being front and center. The weather has been in our favor, although a wee bit hot, we were able to be very productive in getting hay cut, baled, stacked, and delivered. A big shout out to my favorite farmer, Kevin. He's been busy this week! Our farm stand continues to see many faces throughout the week. We are doing our best to keep our shelves stocked for all your needs.
Fresh sweet corn arrives on Saturday, as well as fresh bread! Tomatoes are in full supply and they are so good! Tomato sandwiches are one of our favorite lunches. Ever tried our hot italian sausage? Well if you like a little bit of spice in your meal, you need to try some. It is so good in pasta sauces, over pizza, or simply fried up with potatoes, onions and peppers.
Our grandkids launched their first lemonade stand inside the farm stand yesterday. They sold out in less than 90 minutes. Gramma did not purchase enough lemons for another round this week, but I've been instructed to double my purchase for next week. Stay tuned! Thank you all for following along. Cavendish Gorge Hike
Once a well known recreational area on the Black River, the Cavendish Gorge was used for catching salmon by the 1st peoples. It was also the site of the Fitton Mill in the late 19th century and continues to provide a hydro dam that was built in 1907.
On August 14 (Sunday), the Cavendish Historical Society (CHS) will lead a hike to the Cavendish Gorge. Meet at the Museum at 2 pm. Wear good shoes suitable for walking on uneven terrain. In the event of rain and/or high heat index, the hike will be rescheduled for August 21 at the same time.
