OUR CHICKEN PROCESSING SPECIAL:  Purchase unbagged fresh chickens from our chill tank to your bag and/or cooler.  Unbagged chicken are $4.50/lb (you'll  save .75/lb!). If you are interested in taking advantage of our unbagged special, you must reserve your chickens in advance. Drop us an email (please do NOT respond to this email) no later than Wednesday at 9:00am, and let us know how many you'd like to reserve. Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com September 4, 2021  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  ANNUAL PHINEAS GAGE WALK & TALK There are probably few readers in our area that aren't aware of Phineas Gage, the railroad foreman, who on September 13, 1848, had a tamping rod pass through his head as a result of a blasting accident, and lived for almost 12 years. Each year on the Sunday closest to the anniversary of the accident, the Cavendish Historical Society hosts a Gage Walk & Talk.  This year's Walk  & Talk takes place on Sunday, Sept. 12 at the CHS Museum, Route 131 in Cavendish, VT. The program begins at 2 pm. Masks are required when in the museum. The walk includes the location of the accident, Dr. Harlow's home/surgery, and the boarding house where Gage was taken after his injury.  The site of the accident is approximately three quarters of a mile from the Museum and by the time other sites of interest are visited and we return to the museum, you will have walked for close to 2 miles. Participants can stop at any time. It's recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. This program is free and open to the public. Archived Newsflash emails can be read at: https://mthollynewsflash.blogspot.com  Ludlow Rotary Club Prepares for 30th Annual Chili Cook-off, Oct. 9   The Ludlow Rotary Club (LRC) is sponsoring its 30th Annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The cook-off will be located at the traffic light on Depot Street.  Proceeds will benefit the The Ludlow Rotary Charitable Fund to enable the LRC to continue its programs of local support.   Admission is $10.00 per person which includes chili, bread, ice cream and cider.   Chili entries are welcome from individuals, clubs, and businesses.  An entry fee of $10.00 will include a table space and sterno to keep the chili warm.  Participants are responsible for arriving between 10:30 – 10:45 the day of the cook-off.   Cash prizes will be awarded in the "People's Choice" category.  Awards will be given to the chili entry with the most voted in the "Judges' Choice", "Spiciest", and "Team Spirit" categories.  Chili entrants are asked to provide four (4) gallons of chili for this event and be there to serve the chili.   Please mail your name, address and phone number along with chili entry fee of $10.00 to:  Ludlow Rotary Club, PO Box 616, Ludlow, VT  05149.  For more info, contact Kevin Barnes at 802 558 0479.   Pictured below are  Chris Saylor, a past chili award winner, and a hopeful consumer at a recent Ludlow Rotary Chili Cook-Off event.   September 2, 2021 CONTACT: Andrea Wicher (802) 855-5394   Rutland – Planning ahead isn't always possible, so the Rutland Community Collaborative (RCC) has gathered a panel of experts who will discuss what Advance Directives are. They will also answer questions from families and patients who have not written out the type of medical treatment they would want should they become unable to communicate them to their provider.
