Mount Holly Community Garden Update - Week of June 1, 2020
The past week has yielded some cold wet weather. This was Not so good for our tomatoes and cucumbers. However our onion, lettuce, spinach, beans, kale and herb plants are still growing well. Luckily we have plenty of donated seedlings and will replace those seedlings ruined by the late frost. Thank you Evening Song Farm. These new plants will be a great addition to our garden.
This week the Chase Family installed fence posts and wire is going up tomorrow. We still need to put chicken wire up. Anyone good at that?
The Campopiano Family planted more herbs and some beets donated by Alchemy Gardens.
We also planted raspberries shoots from Brigid Sullivan and started transplant shoots from other areas of the Community Garden into a hedge row.
We also received a load of wood chips from GM Tree Tech. Thank you Don Richardson for setting that up.
Thank you Bania family for mowing this week.
We are still in need of the following: - Tomato Cages (approx. 12)
- Someone who has a tiller and can do an inground bed in front of the raised beds
- Trellis for peas and cucumbers
- Flowering Annuals
- Volunteers who want to be responsible for watering one day each week
