Our one-year old grandson will be coming to visit from Denmark in early September and we are looking to borrow a carseat.
Does anyone have one that they could live without for two weeks? He weighs about 20 lbs.

Second Star Lake cleanup NEXT (not this) Saturday.
On June 27 (Saturday of next week) we will continue to prepare for bottom barriers to be installed at Star Lake. Please join us beginning at 10am to help out. The session will run from 10am to 12 noon.
Many thanks to all who aided our June 13 efforts, during which 3 brimming tractor bucketloads of weeds were removed from the scene. Participants ranged in age from 19 to 80+. We missed out two decades (30's and 40's) in between. Please help us fill in the gap - the future depends on it! |

Garden To Do List (6/19 - 6/26):
- Mulch vegetable & flower plants to suppress weeds & conserve moisture.
- Remove spent flowers (deadheading) to encourage more flowers.
- Finish transplanting tomatoes, peppers, & flower plants
- Plant more salad greens, carrots, beans, basil, dill, etc.
- Protect broccoli, cauliflower, & cabbage plants against cabbage moths with insect netting, Dipel (Bt).
- Scout for slugs & snails near transplants. Use beer traps, Sluggo bait, & hand pick.

Ludlow Rotary Receives Grant for Okemo Valley Swiftwater Rescue Team Ludlow Rotary received a Global Grant to fund the Okemo Valley Swiftwater Rescue Team (OVSRT) in the amount of $62,922. The grant will fund training and equipment to outfit 15 emergency personnel in techniques for making rushing water and other technical rescues while remaining safe themselves. Safety for our local emergency personnel was a key factor in receiving the Global Grant from Rotary International(RI). The grant is part of the emergency response recovery program of Rotary International. It was funded by a collaboration of Rotary Clubs from Ludlow, and surrounding area clubs; individual Rotarians in southern Vermont and Swellendam, South Africa; a club in Moinabad, Telangana, India; the Rotary District of Southern VT and NH; and the RI World Fund. After the devastating flood in 2023, the Ludlow Rotary Club received numerous generous donations for flood recovery. As a Club they decided to keep $15,000 of those donations for a project that would benefit all four communities served by the Club. When the Technical Rescue team was selected to receive the funds, it was suggested that those funds could be enhanced by the new RI emergency response grants, if international partners could be found. The Club has spent the past year and a half securing the necessary partners and putting the funding together with Ben Whalen, vice president of the Technical Rescue Squad. The Okemo Valley Swiftwater Rescue Team is composed of emergency personnel from Cavendish, Ludlow, Mount Holly and Plymouth. Whalen indicated the equipment and training will help protect the emergency personnel of all 4 communities, many of whom are volunteers, in addition to the public who face danger in the face of increasing weather and related hazards. Many of those trained recently said it was the best training they had ever had. The LRC meets most Tuesdays for lunch in Ludlow. The LRC is small and is always looking to welcome new members. Mojo Birds formed their funky flock in Durango, Colorado, bringing together musicians from across the country and around the world, and notably...Shrewsbury's own Silas Hamilton on bass and vocals. Joining Silas are Brian Aherne- slide guitar, mandolin, vocals; Alexi Leon-Harootuninan- percussion and vocals; Jay Harootunian (hailing from Plymouth, VT) -guitar and vocals; Ted Moore-drums, percussion, vocals; and Alex Taub-organ, piano, wurlitzer, vocals. The result is a tight-knit, groove-first sound built for celebration—rootsy, soulful, feel-good, with a little Afro-Peruvian spice. The Meeting House is located at 88 Lottery Rd Shrewsbury, VT Attendance is Pay What You Can...please be as generous as you can. We have NO business sponsors and are totally supported by our listening audience. All proceeds go to the musicians and the historic Shrewsbury Meeting House. The Feline Connection is doing a matching grant fundraiser for our community TNR projects. We need to raise $2,000 to get the $2,000 grant from United Spay Alliance, by June 19th. All orders must write CATS in the memo note section of their order so we can receive a portion of the funds from each fudge order.

Hi Folks, Here we are just at the beginning of Summer and a few days have felt like it for sure.
