Ludlow Rotary heard horror stories about scams and frauds from M&T Bank branch manager, Art Randolph at a recent meeting. Randolph, a long time Rotarian, provided written and verbal details of how to avoid becoming a victim of such scams.

He cautioned that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. He also said count to ten on any call, text or email which is suspicious. He urged skepticism and further checking the source of emails which are possibly a fake from what is believed to be a familiar source, by hovering over the sender address to see whether the sender is valid. Oftentimes they look like a familiar business or contact, but the email will not be from that source. Those are all scams.

People in our communities are falling victim to scams daily. The bank makes an effort to discourage withdrawal of unusual amounts of funds from individual accounts for what they have found to be fraudulent sources. Randolph also cautioned, "never let a stranger come to your home to pick up large amounts of cash, regardless if they say it is for a loved one." Take it slowly and never act with urgency to be safe.

MOUNT HOLLY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT. ROAST BEEF SUPPER

The Mount Holly Volunteer Fire Dept. is holding their Roast Beef Supper on Saturday, June 13th at the Odd Fellows Hall in Belmont.

The meal starts at 5:00 PM with take-outs available starting at 4:45 PM.

The cost is $18, $8 for those under 12, and free for children under 5 years old.

Vermont State Attorney General Charity Clark visited the Expeditionary School at Black River in Ludlow on Tuesday, May 26th to speak with students. She was joined by her assistant and her mother who is a staple around the Attorney General’s office.

Charity Clark is the first female Attorney General in the history of the state of Vermont. She is proud of her local roots: born in Springfield, attended Ludlow Elementary, and graduated from Burr and Burton Academy. She explained her background, what her role entails, and interesting facts about her career and journey to the Attorney General’s office. Ms. Clark explained that she enjoys talking with kids so they understand what opportunities exist and answered questions from many interested students. We appreciate Attorney General Clark and her team taking the time to visit and talk with us!
