2nd Annual Community Appreciation Open House
Friends of the Fletcher Memorial Library welcomes everyone to the 2nd Annual Community Appreciation Open House on Wednesday, 12/6 from 3:30-6pm. Stop by Fletcher Memorial Library for refreshments, holiday music, and a chance to enjoy the library with your friends and neighbors. We are pleased to announce that the Fletcher Memorial Library and The Book Nook will co-present an author event with novelist Jon Clinch on Friday, December 8th at 6PM in the Reading Room at the Fletcher Memorial Library located at 88 Main Street, Ludlow, VT. This "Fireside Chat '' features his latest novel, The General and Julia; wherein Ulysses S. Grant reflects on the crucial moments of his life as a husband, a father, a general, and a president while writing his memoirs and reckoning with his complicated legacy. In The General and Julia, Jon returns to the deeply American roots of earlier writings and has a fascinating story to tell. Today's Forecast: Partly sunny, with a high near 29. Southeast wind 5 to 15 mph.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS

AFTERNOON TO 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations

of up to 4 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of

an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northern New York and central, northeast,

northwest and southern Vermont.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Tuesday to 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous

conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A weather system will bring a mix of rain

and snow to the area Tuesday evening into Wednesday with a

period of freezing rain and sleet expected. Difficult travel

conditions may develop from snow and ice accumulation on one of

the busiest travel days of the year. Snow amounts will be 2-4

inches generally, with up to 6 inches for very localized areas,

in Essex County, New York, and southern and eastern Vermont.

Other areas will receive a dusting to 2 inches of snow. Ice

amounts will be a trace to a tenth of an inch in areas outside

of the Champlain Valley.
