ASH BORER Mitigation Update

The good news is that the treatments have started. We have done 185 injections for those of us who were willing to do it themselves. Which brings us to the not so good news. We have at least 850 more injections requested by about 30 landowners and TIm Bickford, our injector in chief, has been delayed and not able to do injections as soon as planned We expect Tim will be able to catch up by early August. In the meantime, we will work with TIm to develop an alternative, if needed, and we will help those who may now want to do it themselves. We will keep the interested landowners informed of the progress. In the meantime, anyone who missed our initial sign up and is interested, can still participate. Thursday's forecast: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 78. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

The illustrious film maker and fiction writer, Jacob Strunk, will present a short and a reading at the Mount Holly Library at 7 pm on the 19th. Please do come. If you are flood weary, this will be a welcome respite. Jacob writes fiction that he terms horror adjacent. He has been a resident here for the month and loves our community.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Essex County New York and all of central and northern
Vermont except the immediate Champlain Valley and Champlain
Islands.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Periods of heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms associated
with an approaching frontal system will bring a renewed
threat of flash flooding across much of Vermont and Essex
County New York on Sunday. Lingering impacts of high water
may linger through Sunday night.
Total rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.0 inches are expected,
with locally higher amounts with thunderstorm activity.

Greetings everyoneI have been receiving emails from townspeople looking for assistance with cleaning up in the village. I have heard from Patrick Andstadt, who has a business here in town and he is willing to help as much as he can to make light work and save a lot of physical labor. He has a 52 inch power broom and a power rake for driveways that works well in wet conditions. He also has a bucket, broom and a Kabota tractor. Patrick works at Carris Reels also, but will give any time he can. You can call him directly at 802-770-0433 or 802-492-3703.This is not meant to be a finished project that has been on your list of things to do, but to get you so you can use your driveway and remove debris from your property. I hope all of you are doing well after this flood we just experienced? Hats off to our town road crew and selectboard members plus many others who worked day and night to get our roads back up to snuff. What a great job they did and still are doing.

It is time for another Chit Chat to go out as our deadline is coming Saturday July 22^nd, by 6 pm. Please have all Articles, Announcements, Advertisements and any other item you wish to share with our community to us by then. This month as I have family visiting, Caitlin Boyle is doing the paper for me. She is checking all the Chit Chat emails so be sure to say hi, to her.

Don't forget The Baked Ham Supper, benefit the Mt. Moriah Masons on Saturday 22^nd. Nice night out and you don't have to cook. Take Outs are available also.
