Summer time is here! What do you like best about summer? Some favorites around here .. ice cream weather, family picnics, splashing in the water, summer evenings on the front porch. Whatever your summer includes we hope it's a good one!
We're glad the wind from last weekend has settled down a bit. It was a bit out of control and played havoc with our chicken tractors.
We certainly are enjoying visiting with those of you who stop by our farm stand. It's fun to swap recipes, share family pics, discuss the weather, and so on!
Fresh greens (spinach, kale, lettuce) are in full supply and they are a delicious addition to any meal. Apples and strawberries grace our back tables. And don't forget we carry some amazing fresh ravioli from our friends at Vermont Fresh! So good and so easy!
Ground beef folks .. tis the season! Burgers on the grill, or cooked inside are just so darn good. Switch it up and add some of our Grandpa Jim's BBQ Sauce!
Can't forget about our maple syrup! And while you're at it, make sure to click on the link below to the video of our maple operation.
Our meat selection includes pork (chops, sausage, bacon, roasts, ribs), and beef (ground, stew, roasts steaks) and chicken! Our laying hens provide us, and you, with the most amazing farm fresh eggs.

With the summer traffic and haying season, please be mindful of hay equipment, grandkids, vehicles and customers when driving in and out of our driveway. Our farm stand is located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly. Open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12:00pm-5:00pm. Closed on Mondays!

Mount Holly Community The Northford Timber Framers from CT will be at 1204 Gates Road South beginning on June 24th to erect the Sheldon home. They will be here for approximately one week and in that time the house will be up. They use no nails or screws and have about 50 students staying locally for the week to learn the process. There will be an opening ceremony 8:30am on June 24th to Thank all the wonderful organizations of Mount Holly including: Mount Holly School Mount Holly Library Mount Holly Museum Mount Holly Community Association Mount Holly Conservation Reinbow Riding and more... It's an opportunity to see a timber frame home built. Wander down to see the excitement!

Companion & Succession Planting Garden planting and transplanting is now in full swing and everything we want to grow can be planted out including favorites like tomato & pepper plants, squashes, potatoes, onion sets, broccoli, herbs, or greens. One question remains, which plants make good garden companions with each other, and which do not? Plants affect their neighbors and the soil around them so we should try to place compatible or non-competitive plants near each other when possible.
A similar principle applies when deciding which plant follows recently removed ones (called "plant succession"). We don't want to re-plant the same plant or one that needs the same soil nutrients in the same place over and over; that would risk depleting the soil and depriving the subsequent plants of nutrients that they need to be healthy. Our second topic is succession planting - a great way to get more out of limited garden space and have your garden favorites available all season long. Finally, we'll cover a couple pest alerts and some thoughts about that lawn.
The library is holding a Book Sale on July 4th from 10 until 3 in the library parking lot. We are still accepting donations of hardcover books, DVDs, and trade-size paperbound books in good condition. Please stop by and see us. You may see something you've been wanting to read!

Volunteer with the VSO and Attend for Free!
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra Summer Festival Tour is BACK and we need a group of energetic, music-loving individuals to keep everything working smoothly at these performances. You can help at your area concert by selling or ripping tickets, handing out programs, assisting with traffic control and more. In exchange you'll get to enjoy the concert free of charge, while sporting your brand-new VSO volunteer tee shirt!
We have volunteer opportunities at the following concerts:
· Saturday, July 2 at Hunter Park in Manchester
· Sunday, July 3 at Grafton Ponds in Grafton
· Monday, July 4 at Shelburne Museum in Shelburne
The volunteer commitment begins at 4:00 pm, and the performance runs from 7:30 pm - 9:45 pm. You will not be expected to work during the performance, but will be needed after the concert for egress traffic control. We hope to be working in the sun, so be sure to bring your sun block and a wide-brimmed hat. Water will be provided during your shift and don't forget to bring a chair to enjoy the concert in comfort.

Come join the fun and festivities with your friends and neighbors at the annual Plymouth Strawberry Festival. Put on by the Plymouth Emergency Services, the Tyson Ladies Aid and the Tyson Church this fun event is going to resume, after a 2 year hiatus to include a BBQ with hamburgers, cheese burgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, side salads and homemade beans all cooked to perfection by our Plymouth FD/EMS. And what could be better than homemade STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE with homemade biscuits, ice cream and/or whipped cream offered by the Tyson Ladies Aid. There will be face painting and crafts for the kids, music by Adam Boyce and Sue Hunt and a 50/50 raffle sponsored by the Tyson Church. Admission to the park is FREE for the event!
