What a year here at Plew Farm! We thought that 2020 kept us on our toes, but 2021 kept us just as busy!

WE RAISED 42 CATTLE, 34 PIGS, AND A SLEW OF CHICKENS!
44.65 INCHES OF RAIN FELL DURING THE YEAR!
REMODELED OUR FARM STAND!

We are looking forward to 2022! Our farm stand is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 12:00 - 5:00. (Closed on Mondays).

We expect to have fresh bread back in the farm stand on Saturday along with pastries and croissants. Chicken, pork and beef are stocked and will fit into any meal plan!

Looking for a Primary Care Doctor- Happy New Years to all. I am looking for recommendations for a primary care doctor. Prefer less traditional physicians who listen well, are flexible, tend to partner with their patients and look for alternatives to medication use, if possible. DO or MD both fine. Ludlow Rotary Hears about Divided Sky Foundation's Plans

The Jan. 4 luncheon meeting of the Ludlow Rotary Club (LRC) featured the Program Director for Divided Sky Foundation, Melanie Gulde, speaking to Rotarians and guests about plans for the future drug and alcohol recovery program on Fox Lane.

The Divided Sky Foundation, founded by Trey Anastasio, purchased the facility in Ludlow. Anastasio of the band Phish, himself 15 years sober, launched the Divided Sky Foundation to deliver help to those affected by substance use. Vermont, his adopted home state, is a natural place to begin this chapter of his own giving back. Divided Sky is dedicated to delivering quality care and compassionate programming to those affected by alcoholism and addiction.
Acquiring the facility site was the first step in a plan that includes building renovations and program development. The program is tentatively slated to open by the end of 2022. Objections from neighbors have delayed the opening as planned.
The purchase was made possible in part by funds raised in 2020 during Anastasio's The Beacon Jams, an eight-week virtual residency presented live from New York City's historic Beacon Theatre. Donations were encouraged throughout the run, with fans ultimately contributing more than $1.2 million.
"Alcohol is an addiction that seems to be overlooked at times. 95,000 people die annually from alcohol-related causes according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism." said Gulde. She emphasized that addiction to alcohol is the most prevalent addiction facing our society.

The program's goal: to be a local asset for giving back to the community. The non-profit program plans to serve people from all income levels. Care services being planned include maintaining recovery, with plans and programs tailored to individual guests' needs. In addition, the program plans to offer job training and workforce reintegration. Education opportunities are planned to prepare guests who need them with certification in skills and trades.
Gulde provided a tour of the facility after the formal meeting.

I think most readers know I collect Vermont antiques. Years ago I used to see decks of playing cards with Vermont scenes. Today they are seldom seen. They date to 1910.

Printed on the front of the card box is "Vermont, 'The Green Mountain State,' Souvenir Playing Cards, 53 Views of Especial Natural and Historic Interest, Published by Chisolm Bros., Portland, Maine."

Advance Directive - A Guide For Health Care Decisions
Rutland Community Collaborative Sponsors Free Webinar

Rutland - Advance planning can bring peace of mind. Detailing your loved one's health care desires. Leaning how to create your own advance directive. These are the goals of the Rutland Community Collaborative's second free webinar, "Advance Care Planning for Peace of Mind" on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5:00-6:30 pm.

During the discussion and Q&A, a panel of local experts will walk through the process of creating an advance directive and discuss the importance of this valuable and caring document for yourself, a relative or friend.

So, what is an advance directive? An advance directive documents the name of the person who you would like to make health care decisions for you when or if you are unable to make them yourself. The directive also gives instructions about what type of health care you want or do not want.
