Here we are - welcome to another Friday newsletter from your farmers at Plew Farm. Thank you for following along!
If you're out and about this weekend, we invite you to stop by our farm stand. We've got just what you're looking for, and a few things you may not know you need!
The bakers have returned to their kitchen and we will have fresh bread on Saturday! Also coming in on Saturday will be corn from Brown's Orchard and super delicious croissants and pastries from Vermont Croissant.

The fridge is stocked with ravioli, cider, yogurt, milk, and cheese. Come on over and take a peek!
Fresh organic produce grace our back tables and I don't know about you, but I simply love this time of the year! Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil, yup, that's my kind of thing!
Looking for a quick dinner idea?! Here's a small list of what I choose when I'm short on time (or motivation!). . . Burgers with our pre-made patties is my #1 choice. So good, so easy, and everyone will be happy! Goodman's take and bake pizza can be found in our freezer. Four different toppings to choose from too! Sausage. Grab some of our sweet or hot italian sausage and add this to your pasta sauce or just simply pan fry with veggies. Got a slow cooker?! Then try one of our chickens, top with any type of rub/seasoning you desire, cook on low for 8-10 hours, and done!
We look forward to seeing you this weekend. We are open every day 12:00 - 6:00 and are located at 1966 Healdville Road in Mount Holly.

Please be cautious and drive accordingly when driving in and out of our driveway. Be on the lookout for farm equipment, dogs, other customers, and grandchildren!

Now fall is here and hopefully with some of the lovely summer weather we have longed for and to see the rich colors of the season start to come about it's the best time of the year.
So the Chit Chat Deadline is Wednesday September 22^nd by 6:00 pm for the October issue. Please have all articles, announcements, advertisements and any other item you wish to share with our community to me by this time and I will get them into the Chit Chat for you.
This is an important month for our Mount Holly Volunteer Fire Department as they celebrate their 75^th Anniversary. Remember if you have photos of Fire Department happenings you wish to share get them to Paul Faenza for the momentous time.

The Chit Chat Annual Meeting is Tuesday September 21, 2021 at the Mount Holly Town Office at 7:00 pm. Look forward to seeing you there.

Ludlow Rotary memorialized Bob Kirkbride

Ludlow Rotary Club recently unveiled a beautiful 15' street clock at the corner of Main and Elm Street in honor of long time Ludlow resident and Rotarian of 60+ years Bob Kirkbride who died in March 2020 at age 93.

The street clock, made by Electric Time Company, Inc. of Medfield, Massachusetts was designed by the Club and was placed on Town of Ludlow property with the blessing of the Ludlow Village Trustees. Special thanks are extended to the Town's Municipal Manager Scott Murphy, Ludlow's Highway Crew, Ludlow Electric Company, Benson's Chevrolet who stored it for us once it was shipped to Ludlow and assistance from Brett Wright and Wright Construction all who were instrumental of erecting and making sure the clock was ticking!

The dedication was held after a Ludlow Rotary luncheon on Tuesday September 14^th and family members were present along with an honor guard from The American Legion Post 36 and many fellow Rotarians, neighbors and friends.    Rotarian Kimberly Lampert started the proceeding with all reciting the Pledge of Allegiance then introduced the club's present and last two presidents all who led the club while deciding on what meaningful tribute we could do in Bob's memory. Also recognized was Rotary Past District Governor Jon Springer of Reading who was a former Ludlow Police Chief in Ludlow and a friend of Bob's since the 1970's.   Brigid Sullivan, fellow Ludlow Rotarian from Belmont provided a blessing and then Rotarian Jim Rumrill said a few words about Bob as Rotarian; he was followed by Frank Heald, former Town Manager and fellow Rotarian who spoke of Bob as a Ludlow citizen and friend and how Bob always found the GIFT of TIME to help others and raise money to benefit our little town and the area. Several funny stories were told by each of course!

Sharon Bixby spoke of the process of actually getting the clock and thanked those who helped the club with the project… Rotarians, Town Departments, Ludlow Electric, Rotarian spouses like Jon Lampert who was a great help and even a Rotarian grandson who helped plant the flowers at the base of the clock.

Then it was time for Kevin Barnes, Ludlow Rotarian and Jon Lampert to remove the covering and unveil the lovely clock!     Applause and some tears of joy & pride followed ... Rotarian Mary Crowley closed the dedication leading us all in one of Bob's favorite songs- God Bless America!

It was a picturesque day to honor and memorialize a great man who Ludlow will surely miss.  As noted by Rotarian Sharon Bixby, "Bob's 'gift of time', dedicated to helping others and being with those we love and care for, is perhaps his lasting memorial from which we can all benefit".

Join Community Health and Walk to End Alzheimer's

Walk to Raise Awareness Saturday, Sept. 25th

Rutland -- Raising awareness of Alzheimer's disease is a Rutland-area community initiative and Community Health will be supporting the annual walk taking place Saturday, September 25th.

"There is no cure for dementia, but there is a lot that can be done to prepare for what will happen in the future," said Community Health's Dr. Barbara Steinbrecher. A team from Community Health will take part in the September 25th Walk to End Alzheimer's in Rutland. The walk is held each year nationwide to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This year the organization offers walk-from-home options as well as the community walks to consider Covid-19 precautions.

According to the 2018 assessment data, Rutland County has a rate of 36.8 Alzheimer's disease deaths per 100,000, and the Alzheimer's Association predicts that the number of Vermonters living with Alzheimer's (13,000 in 2020) will increase over 30% by 2025.

Walk to End Alzheimer's organizers encourage you to join a local event, walk from home or walk in your neighborhood. Health and safety precautions are in effect and according to their website, "all local events will implement safety protocols including physical distancing, contactless registration, hand sanitizing stations and more. Per CDC guidelines around crowded outdoor settings, we ask that all Walk attendees be vaccinated against Covid-19 or wear a mask when in an overcrowded area. Masks will be available on-site."

On site registration begins at 9am at Rutland Main Street Park with the event getting underway at 10am. Registration is free, so pre-register your team.
