"Child abuse awareness is as important as ever during the COVID19 pandemic," said Jill Jesso-White, Community Health director of communications and development. "Our pinwheel gardens show our support for organizations like Prevent Child Abuse Vermont that collaborate with hundreds of groups around the state to provide support and education to families." In Vermont and around the country, organizations take part in this awareness effort each April as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues its research and programs that focus on understanding child abuse and how to prevent it before it begins. According to the CDC, "children under the age of 18 may be exposed to physical, sexual or emotional abuse and neglect by a parent, caregiver, or another person such as a coach, teacher or clergy member." "Children should know what what it's like to grow up in a safe and supportive environment," said Jesso-White.  Prevent Child Abuse Vermont teaches adults how to nurture healthy development in children and recognize their responsibility for keeping children safe and healthy. The general public is invited to register for the event ahead of time on the ESBR website. Head of School Kendra Rickerby as well as several board members will be available to answer questions about the vision and progress of the school.  ESBR is continuing its "Pathways to Possibilities" Business Pledge Campaign. The campaign is seeking the financial support of local businesses in the form of one-time "pledges" or contributions. Barbara Palotta Needs Our Help!!   As many of you have already heard, Barbara Palotta's house was struck by lightning last week.  Everything, and I mean everything that was electrical was fried and, needless to say, the wiring in the house has to be completely redone.  In order to do this, her house would have to be emptied of all the furniture.   Which brings us to the help...!  Barbara has rented a pod to hold her belongings in front of her house.  The house is only three rooms, so not a great deal of stuff, but it still needs to be moved.     That's where you come in!   We would like to arrange a "moving" day on  Wednesday, April 14th beginning at 9:00 am.     If you are able to come and help with this project for a few hours, it would be greatly appreciated!!  Please let me know ASAP, if you are able to be there.  You can reach me at cgosedevine@yahoo.com.    It would also be helpful if you could let me know whether or not you are able to help...thanks so much!   Carol Volunteer Coordinator  Mount Holly Community Cares   P.S.  If you have any empty boxes to spare, bring them along please!!
