FOLA Preparing for Candidate Forum

Of Area Legislative Candidates, Oct. 10 at 7:00PM.

In keeping with its traditional efforts, FOLA (Friends of Ludlow Auditorium) will conduct a Candidates' Forum on Thursday, Oct. 10 for those candidates seeking the three Windsor County Seats in the Vermont Senate as well as those seeking the RW-1 House seat representing Ludlow, Mt Holly and Shrewsbury. The forum will take place in the Heald Auditorium located on the second floor of the Ludlow Town Hall.

All the candidates seeking the Windsor Senate seats have agreed to participate as well as those seeking the RW-1 seat. They include:

Alison Clarkson – Dem – Senate

Jonathan Gleason – Rep – Senate

Joe Major – Dem – Senate

Andrea Murray – Rep – Senate

Marc Nemeth – Ind – Senate

Adrienne Raymond – Dem – RW1

Becca White – Dem – Senate

Jack Williams – Rep – Senate

Kevin Winter – Rep – RW1

This event will seek the candidates' positions on various issues facing state government. The program will begin with questions from the moderator followed by questions from the audience. The forum is open to all interested residents of Windsor County and the three towns making up RW-1.

The moderator of the event will be Jim Alic, FOLA Chairman. Jacalyn Diesenhouse will be the timer and audience monitors will be Kevin Kuntz and George Thomson. Call 802-855-8896 for information.

Gypsy Reel will be performing on Friday night, Sept 27 at 7:30 pm at the Tinmouth Old Firehouse.

Gypsy Reel plays high energy stirring music rooted in the Celtic tradition but garnered from the whole world. Their music is an exciting synthesis of world rhythms and influences from 3 continents. Their newest studio album, 'Red Red Rose' features music from the tradition and original material from the band.

Their tours of the States, Canada and the UK have gained them rave reviews – 'Ended the set in a frenzy', 'Gypsy Reel rocks stage at Charleston Spoleto Festival' 'Fine sparky playing – bags of originality'.

The line-up includes hot banjoist Claudine Langille, formerly of 'Touchstone', the sensational Irish/American fusion band that won critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, Graham Parker – eclectic fiddler extraordinaire, Camille Parker who has captivated the hearts of audiences across the globe with her mandolin & bodhran and her singing, and joining them for this special show is Orla McGovern from County Mayo, Ireland. She lives in the heart of the Irish tradition in Doolin playing piano and whistle in the finest Irish sessions. We will also see if she will grace the concert with a song in Gaelic.

Suggested donation is $15-20 (90% goes to the musicians, 10% to care of the Old Firehouse).

Refreshments and coffee will be served.

The Old Firehouse is in beautiful "downtown" Tinmouth - nestled between the Town Office and the Firehouse near the corner of Mountain View Road and Route 140. You can park near the Town Office or across the road, up near the church green.

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Springfield Community Players Theater presents Godspell! The first weekend players performed to a sold-out audience! Get your tickets soon for week two.

Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27th & 28th at 7:30 pm and Sunday the 29th at 2 pm.


Godspell, conceived and originally directed by John-Michael Tebelak, with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, is a musical based upon the Gospel according to Saint Matthew. Filled with gentle humor and tuneful songs, Act 1 is a series of parables told in comic fashion, while Act 2 touches on the Passion of Christ. The songs are in different styles, from folk, to vaudeville, to rock, with the most recognizable song being "Day by Day."

Godspell is under the direction of Don Gray, with Cindy Hughes as musical director, Kay Burge as accompanist, and Kallah Turner as choreographer.

Xzavior Fitzwater takes on the role of Jesus, while Tim Jones has the dual role of John the Baptist and Judas. The followers of Jesus are played by Sonja Skalecki, Samantha Wood, W. Lynx Brammer, Arielle Descoteau, Nick Hattam, and Summers Eatmon Williams.

This is a lively show filled with delightful songs, a lot of humor, and is sure to touch the heart.

Godspell is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

The musical will be presented at the Springfield Community Players Studio at 165 South Street, Springfield, Vt., with performances on Sept. 27, and 28, with curtain at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee on Sept. 29, with curtain at 2 p.m. Tickets are discounted for students and seniors, and may be reserved online at www.springfieldcommunityplayers.org, or by calling 802-885-4098.
